Flooring
About the Project
Parents and dog owners who have ever lived with hardwood floors know 2 things about hardwood. First, there’s nothing hard about a hardwood floor, because it scratches easily. Second, water and hardwood floors don’t play nice together. Too much water and hardwood can warp, which can require removal and replacement. If replacement is required, it can be near impossible to find a perfect color match. What started as a modest expense can grow to become a much larger expense if the only option to regain uniform color requires replacing the damaged boards and ALL of the undamaged boards, or sanding down and re-staining the entire floor, including ALL the undamaged boards. There have been some great technological advancements in floor material over the past ten years. One of these is called Luxury Vinyl Planks (LVP). LVP is incredibly resistant to scratches and far more resistant to water damage. The previous homeowner at this property installed cherry hardwood floors throughout the house and they owned a large dog. The damage to the floors could have been sanded out and re-stained, however a decision was made to upgrade to LVP, because of the ongoing concern of scratching and water damage.
